About the Mission Hills Real Estate market
Mission Hills is located immediately north of downtown San Diego. It was
subdivided in 1908 and has a wide variety of available real estate. Some homes
were designed by renowned local architects such as William E. Hebbard,
William Templeton Johnson, Emmor Brooke Weaver, and Nathan Rigdon in the
early era and in the 50’s and 60’s by names such as Lloyd Ruocco,
Homer Delawie, and John Lloyd Wright. Kate Sessions, famous
horticulturist, was also influential in the early development of Mission
Hills – if you stop by the Mission Hills Nursery on Ft. Stockton, note
that she founded it in 1910!
The topography & feel of Mission hills has been likened to San Francisco
by many visitors. Much of the zip code is perched up on a hill coming from
downtown in the south and the bay / airport to the west. With many canyons
running through, the real estate is well-known for having spectacular view homes
of downtown, the bay, airport and to the east mountain ranges.
The main areas of 92103 consist of Hillcrest, Banker’s Hill, Reynard
Hills, Marston Hills, Cleveland Heights, Middletown, University Heights,
Florence Heights, Marine View, Inspiration Heights, and Presidio Hills.
Hillcrest is likely the most well-known area of 92103, which consists
mostly of the couple blocks north and south of University Blvd. from First
Ave. to Park Ave. Hillcrest has most of the shopping, restaurants,
businesses and nightlife in 92103. In addition, Hillcrest is well-known
for it’s gay community. Banker’s Hill is the area south of Hillcrest
along Balboa Park that blends elegantly into downtown and is often likened
to various neighborhoods of San Francisco.
Mission Hills has a wide variety of real estate for sale - from early 1900’s
craftsman style homes to modern urban condos – from old world Spanish
architecture along canyon rims to classic colonial estate homes. Prices
range from about $200,000’s for a 500 sq ft bedroom condo to modern
architectural remodels of all styles up to $4,000,000. Mission Hills has
it all!
